Sikh Punjabi Wedding in Chandigarh | Simran & Gurpreet

January 30, 2011

Another wedding photography assignment in India!! Simran and Gurpreet live in San Francisco, USA but most of their families are located in Chandigarh. The city was planned by Le Corbusier in the state of Punjab in India (some family members came as far as Australia and New Zealand!) It was an amazing wedding spread over seven days. It included all the traditional stages of the sikh wedding: the chunni (scarf) ceremony, the mehndi (henna), the sangeet / jaago (the candles dance), the ceremony at the temple and finally the reception. As a french wedding photographer, I always find it so interesting to cover weddings from other cultures. And it was ver fun to hear the loud bhangra music and the crazy dancing that comes with it. Simran, Gurpreet, thank you for having me on your side during an entire week. It was a lot of fun (…and a lot of emotional moments too)!!
