There are two main places I always wanted to visit in Ethiopia: Lalibela and Harar. I was so excited when Dru and Dawit mentioned in our original exchange that they were considering traveling to Harar for a pre-wedding session. When I was at school, I remember watching a documentary about the French poet Arthur Rimbaud and how he spent time in Harar toward the end of his life. Here is a very interesting article from the NYTimes. Harar is surrounded by defensive walls with large gates. Today, there are still plenty of those traditional houses decorated with flat hanging baskets. A very unique experience! Thank you to Dru and Dawit for being adventurous and offering me the opportunity to finally travel to eastern Ethiopia.
