Weddings at Qasr Al Sarab are symbolic ceremonies. Most couples complete the legal paperwork beforehand, in their home country or through official UAE channels, then celebrate in the desert with their families. This gives you complete freedom over vows, readings and the flow of the day, and none of it feels rushed.

The resort offers everything from intimate to grand settings. You can have a private pool villa ceremony for a small group, or book out the Royal Pavilion Villas for full exclusivity. Larger weddings move to the Al Ara’a desert camp for dinner under the stars, or to the Liwa Ballroom for an indoor reception. Each space photographs differently, so I walk every venue with couples before the day to plan light and angles.

October through April brings the most comfortable temperatures in the Empty Quarter. Evening ceremonies work best all season. The hour before sunset turns the dunes deep orange, and that window gives the strongest portraits of the day. After dark, the clear desert sky allows for starlit shots you simply cannot get in the city.

The resort sits in the Liwa desert, roughly two hours by car from Abu Dhabi and about three and a half from Dubai. For full-day coverage, I recommend booking the photographer into the resort the night before. This allows sunrise dune portraits, relaxed getting-ready coverage and no travel risk on the day itself.
